Library - Abandoned Factory - The Beginning of the World
rakka is helping nemu out at the library, still looking for a job that suites her. rakka meets sumika, who is nemu's sempai. sumika is pregnant, which explains why she was asking the newborn rakka questions about being born, but rakka doesn't understand why she asked the questions. rakka later looks through books in the library, and becomes determined to find out the meaning of the haibane's existence, and what lies beyong the wall. rakka later finds out that nemu is working on a present for sumika, which turns out to be a story on how the city and the haibane came to be. rakka also sees reki arguing with an unfamiliar haibane group, and nemu tells her it's best not to get involved, and they walk away. she also tells her that there are haibanes who live in the old factory on the other side of the city, and that reki once ran away with one of the boys from there and got in trouble with the haibane renmei. later, kuu is about to leave her work (sweeping at a cafe), but then stops and seems to remember something. she turns to the cafe owner and bows and says goodbye. she then runs to an alley and feeds a kitty the sugar cubes that she was given as pay at the cafe. as the kitty runs away, kuu says byebye. later, rakka is bicycling nemu to the library, and over the credits is the story nemu was writing for sumika, with rakka's version of the end. i um... well, the only part of the story i remember is that god drew creatures that looked too much like him, so he punched holes through their halos and colored their wings gray, and threw them in the back of his head. he then went on to create humans who didn't have wings or halos, and then god went to sleep and the winged creatures came out while he was sleeping and flew to the sky, and he was fine with his mistake and let the winged creatures live in that area in the sky, where there are no mountains or oceans, and surrounded by a protective wall... or something. i don't know, buy the dvd.
